the day the Earth stood still... again!

Major announcement here. There's a trailer in circulation for a remake of the 1951 classic 'the day the earth stood still'. This is not funny. Whoever decided to ruin such a brilliant movie by warping the story and polishing it with 21st century cheap computer graphics effects should be fired from their job as head bastard. A quick search shows the part of Klaatu being played by the drug dealer from 'a Scanner darkly'. Apparently the film updates Cold War themes like nuclear warfare to more contemporary ones, such as "humans vs. nature" and humanity's generally violent nature towards itself. What a load of hogwash. I don't like this. I didn't like the Prince of Persia movie and now this happens. Why will they not leave old films alone?
When it comes out I'll go and see if it can dispel these earlier prejudices. Until then I'm going to treat this film with the utmost suspicion.
